How did this tree get big!!!?!

So many of my clients are surprised that the little sapling they planted is now a huge tree. It's important when you plan your garden and start planting trees to understand how big they will grow and to keep them maintained in a way that supports how you use your garden. Arborists can help your tree grow in the shape and direction that you want so that the garden is perfect for your family. My blog has tips for the home owner on keeping your tree healthy and, of course, tips on when to use an arborist to get the perfect result.

Three Reasons To Use A Tree Services Company This Autumn

Blog

The hot days of the Australian summer are finally over and the cooler days of autumn have arrived. This temperature drop is all the motivation many people need to head outside and winterize their gardens before cold snaps and snow arrive. After the violence of the annual summer storms, hiring a tree service is a prudent way to ensure your trees' health during the winter months ahead, and here are three reasons why.

Removing Deadwood

Storm damage to trees is not uncommon. It may occur because the tree has been struck by lightning or because branches were snapped and left hanging during strong winds. A tree service helps fix this issue by examining the tree and removing all damaged parts of the tree that will eventually die and become tinder-dry deadwood. These deadwood parts of the tree are dangerous because they may unexpectedly fall onto the ground below. Depending on where they land, this can lead to property damage or human harm. Dying tree areas also take valuable nutrients from the tree when this tree food is better served being directed to the healthy part of the tree. The sooner the deadwood is removed, the better it is for the tree and any property surrounding it.

Pruning

Pruning can be done at any time of the year, but autumn is a great season to have a tree service do this task for two reasons:

  1. The humidity levels of summer have abated which means there is less moisture in the air that causes diseases to grow on the newly pruned tree limbs.
  2. Pruning after the summer heat leaves but before cold temperatures arrive means the tree has perfect conditions to heal. This pre-Spring prune ensures your trees are ready for new growth once winter is over.

It is unwise to tackle pruning if you have not previously done it because amateur pruning leads to damaged or weakened tree limbs.

Health Advice

Over winter, trees enter a period of minimal growth, so to survive the cold weather you need to make sure your tree is healthy and ready for the dormancy which lies ahead. A tree services' inspection means than any health issues are noticed and dealt with before major damage takes hold.

Take advantage of the cooler sunny days to have a tree service come and deal with all issues in your garden so that when spring rolls around later in the year, your trees are in full health and ready to bloom.
